SOCANSupporting emerging songwriters
About this project
The SOCAN Songwriting Prize is Canada’s most prestigious award for independent music creators. This year SOCAN grew their nominations to 10 French and 10 English artists from 5 each the previous year, requiring a new site design to accommodate the change.
C(Group designed a fresh, colorful site configured to spotlight the 10 French or 10 English nominees on one page. From a technology perspective, we extended voting capabilities into the social platforms collecting votes both through Twitter and Facebook in addition to the on-site voting that was already in place. The built-in controllable music player was also upgraded providing an interrupted listening experience while a user navigates the pages of the site. The reusable design template also feature space for award sponsors and contest terms and conditions. All in all a highly interactive and engaging site for SOCAN to enable users to be fully involved in the voting process.

OmbudService for Life & Health InsuranceProviding free and impartial insurance dispute resolution services
About this project
C(Group has been working with The OmbudService for Life & Health Insurance (OLHI) to re-design and re-engineer the OLHI website to improve ease of use and access to information for the Canadian Consumer of Life and Health insurance. As Canada’s independent complaint resolution and information service, their website is a critical tool in achieving OLHI’s mission. A fresh, clean look and a liberal use of white space allow information to be digested easily. Engaging photography and images establish an emotional connection with the user. Subtle color and graphic highlights provide context and reinforce the OLHI brand.
In addition to a greatly enhanced user-experience, the site was re-engineered using a fully editable Content Management System to allow OLHI staff to manage their own content updates going forwards, producing excellent long-term value from the new system.
Andrea Zviedris, Communications Manager says: “C(Group was excellent to work with. Our new website is heads above our previous and we now offer a greatly improved service as a result.”

College of Medical Radiation Technologists of OntarioServing and protecting the public interest
About this project
C(Group worked together with CMRTO on this “coming of age” project. Last redeveloped in 2007, the CMRTO website was long overdue for a redesign. Notwithstanding the opportunities to evolve the site from a technology perspective (i.e. transition to a responsive framework, become mobile-friendly, etc.), we approached the redesign from a User Experience Design perspective to ensure the redesign fully reflected the needs of the public, members, and other stakeholders as well as aligned with the college’s new communications strategy.
Major drivers behind the rethink included the desire for the site to 1) become a communications hub (portal) rather than an archive of materials, 2) enhance the experience for the various user types/roles (members, applicants, public), 3) integrate activity among other channels (social media, YouTube, blogs, newsletters), and 4) demonstrate leadership in health profession regulation.
C(Group facilitated a series of strategic exercises to arrive at a simplified information architecture for the site that ensured easy access to desired content and improved engagement with the CMRTO regardless of a user’s profile (member, applicant, public, etc.).
From a branding point of view, the redesign was an opportunity for a fresh, new look & feel strategically designed to further evolve the brand position of the CMRTO. The design concept uses a clean, minimalistic approach and centers around the good use of white space, with large friendly, inviting photography/images, and subtle color and graphic highlights to provide contrast and context.
